More fishing events for children
H&DAA held 2 further events in June that form part of the Angling Trust’s “Get Fishing” project. A local Brownie group visited Foxhole on the evening of June 13, whilst on the evening of 22nd the club hosted a group of Explorer Scout, also based in Horsham. For both events, like the first, we were blessed with beautiful weather in be We followed the same format as last time: Ray Smallwood demonstrated the basics of whip fishing after which the children were split into small groups with angling supervision provided by members of the committee. Large numbers of small roach and skimmers were landed, with extra excitement added by the appearance of the odd carp, which tested our whips to the limit. Everyone went home happy and for some of the children involved we hope this can be the start of a long angling journey. Thanks to everyone who made these events possible, especially the leaders of the Explorer scout and Brownie groups involved, members of the club committee who organized and supervised the events and the Angling Trust.
