Action to take when catching unhealthy fish

A question has been raised with the club committee regarding what action to take if you catch a fish that looks particularly unhealthy or possibly diseased. As a result Les has contacted the EA who have advised the following:

  • Take pictures of the fish from both side and from the front
  • If possible take close ups of any sores or specifically visible damage
  • Forward the photos to Les or to the Club fisheries email address – fisheries@hdaa.co.uk – they will then be forwarded to the EA for investigation
  • The fish should be returned

The best way of avoiding diseases spreading between waters is to ensure that all nets are dried between fishing trips, please try to ensure that you dry your nets after a visit to any water.
