After heavy frosts on the days before the match, but not on the match day, the feeling before the start was that the fishing would be very hard, as the water was very clear and cold. This proved to be the case for most of the field with small fish seeming to be absent; however, Ray Smallwood and Andy Chappell both managed a few decent fish on the feeder.
