Avian flu

Cases of avian influenza (bird flu) have recently been identfied at the RSPB reserve at Pulborough Brooks.

No cases (so far as the committee knows) have yet been reported on club waters, and fishing is still permitted on all waters.

However, members should take extra precautions when fishing (in particular the stretch of the Arun we have access to at Lee Place due it’s proximity to Pulborough Brooks).

  • Avoid handling any dead or sick looking birds
  • Report any suspected cases following this link which also gives details on how to identify potential cases and to the club (general_enquiries@hdaa.co.uk or 07453 028 355)
  • Undertake frequent hand washing and disinfect footwear, clothing and tackle before and after visiting venues
