After a mild couple of weeks, the weather suddenly turned very cold, and combined with a strong wind and vast amounts of leaves on the water, the fishing was very difficult. Les Eggleton took top spot with 5-3-0 which included the capture of a 3-8-0 eel (not something you would expect at this time of year); however, John Hayes also had a smaller eel of around the 1lb mark. Other than these fish all weights were made up of small fish, although several carp were caught that don’t count in the Christmas Comp (Les and Ray Smallwood both landing a carp each that were in double figures).
